About Us
Our Story
Shop Kamawe was born from a deep love; the love of a people, a culture, and the extraordinary artistry that has defined African craftsmanship for generations.
James Kamawe grew up in Nairobi, Kenya, surrounded by the rich traditions of East African jewelry-making. When he and his wife Kris began making regular journeys back to Kenya, they kept returning home with something special: handcrafted pieces that told stories, carried meaning, and turned heads everywhere they went. Friends and family couldn't stop asking: "Where did you get that?"
That question became the foundation of Shop Kamawe.
Handcrafted by Kenyan Artisans
Every bracelet, earring, necklace, and ring in our collection is handmade by skilled Kenyan artisans, craftspeople who have honed their trade across generations. From intricately woven brass bracelets to cascading cowrie shell earrings, each piece is a small work of art rooted in authentic African tradition.
We don't mass-produce. We don't cut corners. Every item is made with intention, skill, and pride, and that difference is something you can feel the moment you hold one of our pieces.
More Than Jewelry
Shop Kamawe is more than an African jewelry store. We are a bridge between cultures, bringing the beauty of Kenya directly to you, wherever you are in the United States. We also offer guided tours to Kenya, Kenyan coffee through our Kirenge Gold Coffee collection, and curated African literature, because we believe the best way to appreciate African craftsmanship is to also understand the culture it comes from.
Our Promise to You
When you shop with us, you're not just buying jewelry, you're supporting Kenyan artisans, celebrating African heritage, and wearing a story worth telling. We ship free nationwide via USPS, and we stand behind every product we sell.
Welcome to the tribe. We're glad you're here.
